The only thing that I can think of a bit like that off the top of my head is NewsPro... I know it would allow an administrator to create accounts for people to post newsworthy information, but I can't remember what sort of support it had for anonymous posting (if any) as I never needed that feature.

I'm not sure where to get it any more, but I'm sure a google search or a quick look at cgi.resourceindex.com will find the script rather quickly.

NewsPro is a Perl script that you can include into any page you want by using SSI - or IIRC you can run it as a stand alone if you want.

The input pages and news output are kept seperate, so you can put the first X messages in a page and have a direct call to another (either to the script or a page where it is included) to get the rest of the news/comments. Each post is marked with date, time and author, which makes it easy to identify regular posters - and there is an archive feature but I can't remember much about how that works.

Sounds the closest solution to what you want that I can think of.

Have you ever installed a Perl script before? If not, here are a few tips.

* make sure your paths are correct (path to Perl and to config files etc)
* make sure you upload all your Perl files in ASCII mode.
* CHMOD the scripts to be exectuable, most Perl scripts usually have good documentation about this (need help understanding permissions? - http://websiteowner.info/tutorials/s...ermissions.asp )

This should fix most of the common problems...
