I'm working on a site and I'm still pretty green with web programming outside of html. In my design I want to display my main page, and as people click the links I want just the text content of the site to change with that link. I've messed around with frames a little, but I can't get it to look the way I want it. An example of what I'm trying to do can be found at:
http://www.mthollyfamilydentistry.com/

I guess I'm looking for a tutorial online that will help me do this, but I'm not sure what I'm searching for. Would something like this work in html or do I need to use javascript? What is this design concept called?

I also have a logo that I want to use as the background to my text, so I want the text to scroll and the image to stay in place.

Thanks for any help!

Big giant tip #1 - Don't use frames.

Yes, they're convinient. You get to leave everything except the changing content. In theory, it's a good idea.

It's not worth it.

It's almost impoosible for people to go to the page they want because the address bar always shows the address for the frameset.

Frames just look tacky 98% of the time. I've seen a few people that managed to hide it pretty well. Most of the time, it's hideous.

You can use PHP or Server Side includes and still only need to change onefile to change your menu on every page. Just a thought.

ok cool. Well I was serfin' around the board and I found another example of what I'm trying to do. http://www.snowboard.com.

See how on the right of the page they have a box that scrolls. That's what I want to do. Is this a frameset on snowboard.com? I don't think so, it's not coded with a "<frameset>" tag anyway.

I don't care if I do have to reload every page, but I really think the content of my page will look good if I can put it into a scrolling textbox like these examples I have shown.

Thanks for any help!

You can do that with CSS. Just set the overflow to scroll and a height and you're good to go.
