Hi,

I am new to web design... I can just get by making websites.... I have been looking for a way to make an image repeate in the back ground of a table so that I can put text over it and the table grows as I do.

I used Photoshop to create my template and then I sliced it up in Image Ready and saved the HTML and Images and then opened the file in Dreamweaver. I have a few content boxes that I need to make a background so I can put text in them. Does anyone have any advice on how I can do this?

I found a tutorial and went threw it but when I do what the guy says the image disappears. Weird? Thanks,

Yes, it can be done.. by dumping the tables and using proper HTML markup and CSS. Head over to css Zen Garden: The Beauty in CSS Design and take a look .. no tables, but LOTS of beautiful images.. most of them set at the background of a <div>

I would also suggest the following book:
Build*Your*Own Web*Site The*Right*Way Using*HTML*&*CSS - SitePoint Books

You should also read this article:
Why tables for layout is stupid: problems defined, solutions offered

Since you're new to this, better to get going using MODERN web design, not techniques from a decade ago.

ImageReady spits out very BAD HTML.. learn to code it yourself from the ground up and you will be much better off.

I really appreciate the quick response. I will take a look at those links and see what's there. Thank you very much...

So your saying that designing a website with Photoshop and then slicing it up is old school, huh? I need to use all coding and only use Photoshop to create the desired images for the site? Thanks,

Mark

No, that's not what I meant. I design all my sites in Photoshop and I create my own 'slices'. What is NOT good is using PS or ImageReady to spit out it's horrid HTML and using it as is.
