2) If so, how can I improve the web design without losing my current placement on the search engines?
3) What tips do you have to help me to improve the design even though I’m not a web designer or expert?

i think you should provide bigger images of your products.
i like the design. i was then going to congratulate you with the design until i looked at the code :
