I whant to get a page online onto my website with some photos on there but i need to put passwor protection on there for protection reasons. It will only be acsessed by a few people and i whant to set one password and when they contact me and i have verified who they are i will tell them the password. Is this doable? If so how?
Thank you in advance for your help.

Generally FrontPage password protection involves use of a sub web. Tute Here.

If the content is sensitive or valuable, I would use this or maybe ASP or PHP to password protect.

For ASP, check out http://frontpagehowto.com.

If the info isn't really sensitive, then you might go with Javascript options. Simply The Best has some Here.

When I used to use FP, I just created a sub-folder and pw protect from within FP. You could have multiple user names and passwords I think. (one for each user).

Maybe I had to do something with an .htaccess file?

I'd avoid the out-of-the box FP solution and go with PHP or ASP. My preference would be to try to do something with PHP, but I have not done that before.

Note that when my FP extensions were having issues, they reinstalled them for me. Thanks, but that wiped out ALL of the username and passwords I had added (150+).

That's when I bought a copy of Dreamweaver for myself.

All you need to do is click on help in FP, the type in passwod protection and you will get a page that looks like this:

Quote:
Remove a user or group of users from a web

Administrators can remove a user or user group to prevent them from accessing a web in FrontPage.

By default, all subwebs use the same permission settings as their parent webs, but you can set unique permissions for a subweb.
  1. On the Tools menu, point to Security, and then click Permissions.
  2. If the web is a subweb using the same permissions as its parent web, click Use unique permissions for this web, and then click Apply.
  3. Do one or more of the following:
    • To remove a user, click the Users tab, click the user in the list, and then click Remove.
    • To remove a group, click the Groups tab, click the group in the list, and then click Remove.
Just follow the directions.

This means that the pictures needs to be in a sub-web where you define the permissions. If it isn't child porn that will be good enough. If it is may you rot in H%$#.

What do you mean the pictures are of children?

why dont you try to password protect it using your Hosting Account control panel? just go in there or ask your hosting provider to Password Protect it. it shouldnt be complicated.

It does have something to do with the .httaccess file, but thats Server level, thats why Id suggest you go direct to your control panel and look for that option, if you have one if not just ask your hosting prov pip.
