Best Ecommerce for small business?

I am currently using paypal to take payments and would like to switch to some kind of ecommerce solution.

Can anyone recommend an ecommerce solution ie. merchant account and gateway for a small business with room to grow? One that sells ebooks, software, memberships, web hosting and other non-tangeable goods?

I am looking for something reliable and that can easily be coded so the whole thing is automated.

I've heard very good things about 2Checkout for payment processing. They're only $50 setup and their fees are quite low, but they are a lot more professional looking than Paypal.

2Checkout is ok but they charge VERY HIGH per transaction fees.

$0.45 per Transaction
5.5% of Transaction Amount

Meaning from $100 processed you'll be losing $5.95

It is more professional to get credit card processing company account and also a merchant account, then automate the site and have SSL Certificate installed. This way all processing is done "on your site", meaning the customer is not being redirected to some other site. Also, for 2checkout you have to set products while with professional solutions you don't need to.

The one that we offer - $195 setup fee for CC processing, Free merchant account setup. There will be monthly fees involved ($15 and $20) and per transaction fees are 2.29% + $0.30.

If you are interested - contact me.

While I agree that having a merchant account may be better than 2Checkout, the extra amount on transactions goes a long, long way when it comes to the higher set-up fees and the monthly gateway fees.

If you're doing enough business to cover the expense, then it's worth having the merchant account.
