I'm trying to figure out how to design a site for the local soccer scene where I am.

I was going to use php-nuke, but I think it might be overkill.

Any ideas?

You know best how to categorize and organize the information you want to carry on the site. So do it yourself and build the database and code from scratch. It always works better in the long run.

Well, you can hire a freelance programmer to go the job for you.

PHP-Nuke isn't really the most suitable for a site of that nature. I would suggest designing it yourself. If you can't code it yourself, try a WYSIWYG editor such as FrontPage or Dreamweaver.
