Hi Drache,

I think you and I are thinking of more different things. I'm talking about the kind of template where you request and they send the template to you. It seems like you're talking about a site like the one ColdFusion provided; they display the templates, and you take your pick.

Hmm don't think I have ever seen a site like that. Got a link to one so I can better understand what you mean?

Of course my visitors will be able to choose. I will even provide a link to my webdesign site should they want something custom.

However, as to how the template is delivered upon purchase, well that I haven't ironed out yet. It might be download, it might be sent to an email address, or maybe an offering of both as options.

Hi Drache,

We may have different definitions of template too. Any site that offers "web designing" but really does not actually input any of the text (and sometimes just preliminary nav bars with only the images) is a "template" in my books. In that case, you may think that there are many hosts that offer templates. But not necessarily. It seems that most web designers will go as far to setup the format of the text, scripting, and all the extras you may want. An example of a designer that I have always felt designed websites closer to custom templates than pure web designing is www.protinium.net . And quite honestly, I think they are one of the best on the net.

Okay Conker webdesign and a template are really two different things.

Buying a template means you just buy the design/graphics. Sometimes the code for the layout is included. I would venture almost always.

However, adding content is the template buyers responsibility.

Webdesign is a completely different animal. If someone hires me to design their site this could include adding some content as well.

They will pay a lot more for that though which is why some look for templates and add the content themselves.

Well, I asked the question about Templates, just beacuse I wanted to know how many people've been using them.
I used to create Design myself, but then I realesed that One person simply can't do Design and programming at the same time with the same quality. So I' choosed Web programming, and then I found myself is very good , and cheap (I think) Graphic Designer back in Russia. He charges about $300 for complete design with flash Intro. And he does very nice work.
He usualy gives me 3-4 different designes to choose from.
If any body in interesed here is his new creations:

OK I want to say from my experiense that there are many opinions concerning templates.

As for me I guess that all depends on creativity of template user. I saw more than 50 sites created from our templates most of them applyied with changes. So there are many cases when you will not be able to say that these sites were created from one template.

So, many people - many opinions. I know only one thing - we have 15 + designers who are probably the best designers which you can hire. They create very nice templates. And it is your personal right of choice to buy them or to make website yourself.

Any case I wish you all the best.
