Hello All!
We spend so much time trying to create that PEFECT design for our site ... And then you find sites like http://www.helendesign.com
and start thinking .... Was it worth it spend so much time creating, where you can by Beautiful design for $39.99.
Just want to hear your opinions on this subject. Did any of you ever buy design from companies like this ? Would you ever consideer doing so ? If yes how much would you pay ?

I have bought and used designs from other people. I didn't check the site thoroughly, but if I spent money on a design, I would want it to be only mine.
For the right design and being able to modify as I want, I would buy a design. Now the price, I don't know........I think there's a lot available to be stuck on one price.
And if you get custom designs, well, the price just went up.

Hi guys,
I am actually using a template from FreeSiteTemplates on one of my websites. I think that it would be hard to find another website using the same free template, if you get it from that site, because there are some 40 pages alone of templates that don't use frames. Considering that they only show 5 at a time, you can be pretty assured that few people will end up using the same design.
Now the design I'm using, IMO, is incredibly professional; I would rate it among the best templates I have ever seen, even better than some custom ones! Of course, I have also made some modifications to it, but it's amazing what you can get for free these days. And I did a search on Google...only 2 other sites were using the same template (assuming that all of them are indexed and all of them have kept the necessary copyrights).
I do agree that if you see a costly template you really like, you can try copying it and designing it yourself from scratch, though it might get you into some legal issues with the original makers.

I just looked at templateclub.com, and I absolutely would not trust them at all. They are using a free template themselves (I've seen it on FreeSiteTemplates), although they edited out the navigation bar. Plus, they removed the copyrights and put their own.

Hi NeVeR,
The fact that you don't have a website or some big corporation convinces me that you're pretty honest in your work.
Do you have any past work that you could show us? I'm interested in seeing some of your work because I may consider purchasing something or referring you to others.
Just one last question...If we took the mean of all the prices you could offer, what would it come out to be approximately? Do you think it would be a bit cheaper than the website ColdFusion posted?
Thanks!

No I would never use one from a template site simply because I prefer to make my own.
In fact I am currently working on my own template site which will have some for free and some for purchase.

I definitely don't like that template club. They could be stealing other people's designs/templates and the only way to know would be to join.

I've been quite sick the past few days, i'll post some work tomorrow or the next day
the price would be about $20 - $15 cheaper then that site. so around $25 - $35 a temp depending on the temp,
But if u ordered a few we might be able to work a deal out.
I also make Swish/flash intro and viewers
I'll get back to you as soon as ai can,

Hmm looks like I will have some competition
I also do templates in regular and Flash.
Oh well, a little competition is healthy and keeps prices down.

No, no, no. You misunderstood what I was saying.
I didn't say that all companies with a website are dishonest. In fact, most are. But I'm saying that since he's just an individual willing to work on templates without some fancy propoganda website, I think I can trust him.
I will probably be able to trust you after you've created your website too. Even if you do have a website full of nothing but propoganda, it still doesn't mean you're dishonest.

Good because I am one of the most honest and ethical people you will ever meet either online or off.
But your statement about propaganda confuses me. What propaganda could be on a website offering templates for free or sale??
Did I miss something...

Well, you know, how some websites are very pushy in trying to get you to buy something that you can't refuse. And other times, you may be getting very cheap quality products (considering they don't show you the templates). I've even seen sites selling templates that were found on a free site (I will not mention names, of course ). Not an honest world out there...

Yes I do know about pushy but I don't really view it as pushy, more like trying to close a sale through the use of effective ad copy/text. Unless you and I are thinking of totally different things.
I was taught that in order to make a sale you have to point out a benefit to the buyer. If no benefit is perceived then you won't make the sale.
However, with templates I don't feel there is anything to 'push'. Someone visiting either needs them or they don't. It is really that simple.
I would never sell a design/template that I wouldn't use on my own site. Heck a few of the freebies are ones that I had formerly used on some of my sites LOL.
Yes I know about the ones that take templates that belong to others and either sell or give them away. If you know this is being done and you know who the original person is who created the content then report the site. I do it all the time.
I just make sure I don't get so carried away in my righteous zeal that I accuse someone wrongly. I always make sure my ducks are all in a row before reporting the website.
No you are right, the world isn't entirely honest, but there are honest people in it. You just have to find them and like rare gems that may not always be so easy to unearth.
When you do find one you can trust value that rare gem for it may be a long time coming before you can find another. Too often though those who can be trusted are the most walked upon of anyone because they also tend to trust too quickly.
Fortunately for me I don't have that problem.
