Hi,

I'm in the process of setting up a site which will revolve around users viewing streaming video, in much the same way as www.youtube.com

I am completely new to streaming media and need to know exactly what I need to do in terms of web hosting/server and streaming media management (ie. Flash or Windows Media) in order to get the site up and running at the cheapest possible cost. I would expect to gradually gain quite a large database of short videos.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I'de actually try http://profusehost.net because your movies will take up loaded of bandwidth. its 100GB and has no ads on your page (for FREE!)

next is setting up script for users to post there video http://hotscripts.com
If you want to "STREAM" videos unlike youtube and more like Current.tv then you should go to http://listen2myradio.com and set up a server (free if you set it up around there page, charges you if you want to embed. you wont be able to embed it if u dont pay because there set up against frames
