I use Photoshop, but I think there are a lot of quality image editing and creation programs. They're all simply tools. A good designer can create great graphics using the default graphics program for Windows, Paint.

You can create very good graphics with any of the programs you mention, but my preference id Photshop in part because it's the program I'm most familiar with.

Logos should be designed in illustrator or any other vector based package as this will allow a lot more flexability later down the track.

If you only intend for it to be used on the web its probably not much of an issue.

Photoshop and Illustrator.

However, if I were to give advice to someone asking what to learn. (Well, hey, I am!) I think that I would suggest to start with FireWorks. It is an awesome product for creating graphics for the Web. I don't use it because I also do Video and I have been using Photoshop for sooooLong ... I still keep telling myself that I need to learn Fireworks.

I switch back and forth between Photoshop and Illustrator. Well Fireworks also works with vector as well as bitmap.

Learn Fireworks and you will be very satisfied... Plus it integrates very nicely with DreamWeaver.

You talked me into it stepoff, Fireworks comes with Studio and I've had it for quite a while. I am going to take the time to learn it.

I think that you should too
