Frontpage Vs Dreamweaver

Okay, I just had to bring this up. I know everyone has their favourite but you have to just give it up for frontpage. I think it edges dreamweaver because of its ability to connect directly with the web server. And the latest frontpage also interpretes php, and is more user freindly for the novice user. Bah, but then again, thats my view. Whats yours?

NFW !
Oh PULEEEEASSEE... FP is HORRIBLE !!!
It spits out truly crappy code, IE centric - which means largely incompatible with any other browser. It is by far THE WORST.
DW is good for people who already know how to code BY HAND. It is NOT a program for beginners. It too spits out horrible code if used soley in WYISWYG mode - which is what most beginners do. The result is garbage code almost as bad as FP.
As for connecting to a server, clearly you don't know DW's capabilities. I use it all the time with a testing server. It also DOES interpret PHP.
If you want to build GOOD web sites, learn to code BY HAND using notepad and forget the WYSIWYG programs.

There's no point about "love" for DW.
This is an observation,( I agree with Lady), and conclusion.
Frontpage is bad toy .
Dreamweaver is much better, IMHO, even for beginners, than FP. (In design mode, of course).
For experienced users, DW is light years away from FP.
But, who likes FP, go ahead.

I agree with the last few post. DW is by far the better program as it supports a massive amount of features that are growing with the release of new extensions!
Even in code view, the amount of helpful features provided can add to the speed and efficiency of any project you work on!
Im not sure about using just notepad as Dreamweaver is so helpful. But if your gonna go down the WYSIWYG route. Dreamweaver all the way!
IT WEAVES DREAMS DAMMIT!!! DREAMS!!!!

It would be easier to list the things that are BAD about FP. I use DW, have since version 1.0. I have also used FP - it trashed my layouts and turned them into garbage.
If you don't want to learn anything, go ahead, keep using FP and spitting out garbage web pages that can only be viewed decently with IE. Anyone who is a pro in the web design business would never use FP to build websites. It's ok if you're 12.. but it is NOT a professional design tool.

I do not want to flame, but DW is much better.....
I also used FP...but differences are obvious....
FP is still on my machine, but only as a relict part of MS Office.

Although I prefer using DreamWevaer I have to admit that I use FrontPage too. It has some nice characteristics over DreamWeaver (talking about designing) so I prefer it. I use DreamWeaver mostly for scripting.

C'mon, Frontpage IS a Proffessional Design tool, with an easier interface more user friendly features!

You should give Visual Web Developer a try. You can get an express (free) version, here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/express/vwd/download
This also lets you use PHP, Java, html, etc. It's far superior to FP.
Dream Weaver is good, but... there are some bugs to be worked out when using a database connection.

In the hand of skilled developer, Notepad is also professional tool.
BTW, DW is standard tool for web design .
One question for FP users:
Did You ever use DW longer than couple of days?

Not because it is from Microsoft house. I have no problem with Microsoft at all. I have a choice. Things from MS that I like and are useful to me - I use.
Things like FP - I do not use.
Of course I also use IE 6, but only for checking my work.
For web surfing I use FF.

I have used both FP and DW. Personally, I prefer Dreamweaver because of its compatability with Flash and Fireworks. I will also say that I am a newbee in web design, so your free to prove me wrong. But, I have to say, I will never go back to Front Page.

Well if FP is whack then I guess all those sites, including Microsoft and MSN are all whack! Lady in red knows more about web standards maybe she can justify this claim.

I have an older copy of DW, and yes, I have an older version of FP, but I only use them when I have something REALLY simple to do.
If I had to choose, though... I would seriously choose DW over FP.
