Playing sounds on your website?

I'm wanting to record a short 30 sec presentation and have it played on an mp3 player built into my website.

You know. the visitor clicks play and then u hear the short mp3 file.

How do I do this? Would I use a flash player or something? Any links? Its murder trying to find this on the search engines as its all music download sites!

I'd also rather not have the visitor have a pop-up "download plugin" window displayed, so it has to be a common script.

Any help would be appreciated!

Andy

I think you'll find what you're looking for in the following thread:

http://www.webmaster-talk.com/html-forum/64586-how-add-flash-video-audio-web.html

One thing about sound is to make sure it doesn't automatically start playing or at least has a way to turn it off. Not everyone likes it. I know if I get to a site and it starts playing sound I'm usually long gone before I've ever heard the message. In fact the sound on my computer is set to be just about off becuase of sites that play audio.

It can definitely be useful, but keep in mind not everyone will like it, so provide some options to turn it off or make some have to do something before it starts.

There are several products out there that will convert a sound into a mini flash player, http://www.swishzone.com is one.

wimpy is a good media player for websites... it gives you options whether you want an actual skin player or just a little on/off button which is small, neat and prbably best.

Take a look at www.wimpyplayer.com . The instructions there are really simple too.
