Well, this is my first post here, so I hope this is the right section for this question.

See I don't know exactly what it's called, but you know the image that appears next to a sites name when it is stored in favourites, or in the address bar in Internet Explorer. The default icon is the Explorer logo. But some sites like Hotmail and others, are able to have their own icon.

So how do they do this? I've tried reading the source code for such sites (always the best way of finding out how something is done) but from what I can see, there's nothing there.
