I'm making a tabs site and I wanted to know:

is a home nav option necessary?

I would have a several other links to the home, but I want them to go to other pages, not home.

please just tell me your opinions.

I think its generally good practice to provide users with a link back to the homepage from anywhere in the site.

A home link is also a safety net for the surfer. If they get lost on your site that link will always let them reorientate themselves.

For accessibility and usabilty reasons, a link back to the home page from every page is a must.
