Hi,

I'm pretty blond when it comes to pc things, after all I am female . Just wondering really, how i can go about creating a website with subsites that the user can update. I know how to create "name.lastname.domain.com" - however, the bit i need is this:

I want people to be able to almost have their own profile. They register, upload their own files, write what they want...etc. My website is www.airtalentonline.com - the idea is to give each voiceover talent their own page. Then it'll save me time, because I upload everything by hand at present. Examples can be found at www.voice123.com and www.voicespro.com.

Many thanks for all who try to help, i'm really grateful!

If I'm understand right you want site users to have their own page within your site that they can update. Kind of like a MySpace kind of thing though maybe with different options for what can and can't be updated.

It will require some programming to pull this off. A scripting language like php or asp.net and also a database like mysql or mssql.

It's going to be more than just html.

You may be able to get what you want using a content management system. A CMS will let people with no knowledge of html or php or databases upload content.

You'd want one that allows users to register with minimal privileges so they can only update their pages. I'm not sure of one off the top of my head, but I'm sure there are some that can either do what you want or come very close to what you want and require only a few modifications.

Try Joomla

http://www.joomla.org,

I have developed several Joomla sites for clients and they all say that is very easy to use for non coding savvy users.

I haven't used Joomla myself, but I've always heard positive things about it and looking in from the outside it looks good.

Okay, thanks for your inputs, Joomla is installed on my CMS already so shouldn't be too hard. It's the creation of a Myspace stlye thing that's daunting...if it becomes too annoying, I'll stay as I am

Thanks again you two!
