Hello, I just have a simple question.

I am making a very simple website with just a few pages. I bought the domain and hosting from godaddy.com.

I'm looking for a good CMS that is free to use with this host.

I don't know a lot so I wondered if I could just use any free template I find and upload it this host. Possible across the board? Anything will be compatible?

How about if I use one of the free mamboserver templates?

Anybody know?

Thank you in advance.

If you don't know alot about CMS, it's advisable to stay away from it as each CMS system is rather intense uploading to your server; not to mention that, you need to know alot about php; CHMOD; etc.

However, on the interim, if your host has a CPanel, they should already have several CMS systems pre-loaded.

99.5% of the time id agree travelagent, but redviking.

I am currently working on a modification to use cubecart strictly as a CMS and not a shopping cart! It will further the development of cube cart. Maybe I will call it Cube CMS!

If you would like this installed on your server, you can pm me for pricing details.

Or you can wait for the mod and just buy that and do it yourself. You will need to know basic MYSQL and CHMOD to install cubecart as a base though.

Client side, DB to HTML CMS systems are installed on your PC and create real HTML pages. This means you don't get any complicated server side issues and you can upload the pages automatically to any host.
www.straight2web.net is free for up to 5 pages.

You can also go to opensourcecms.com to compare CMS's and see what other people have to say about them. But make sure you ready to learn a little bit, learning Textpattern took me about 4 months, and I still consider myself an amatuer.
