As for my friend's site, it clearly shows this code:

<meta name="GENERATOR" content="Microsoft FrontPage 5.0">
<meta name="ProgId" content="FrontPage.Editor.Document">

Irregardless; BOTH sites were done in MicroSTOOPID FP and that's all there is to it.

my website has the first code in it

what is an opensorce layout and how do I get one and are they easy to use?

I have downloaded Nuv (some one recommended it to me) and have started to play around with it. is this a good one to use.

I have NO BUDGET i am doing all of this myself and trying to learn along the way.

WYSIWYG stands for ... "What You See Is What You Get" ... you'll often hear it referred to as "Wizzy-Wig".

There are plenty of free editors out there. Nvu is a good open source editor. HTML Kit is also free. Amaya is also very nice.

Hi Lydia,
You can find a LOT of very nice open-source (FREE) CSS templates here:
http://www.openwebdesign.org/

I would also suggest learning to code HTML by hand w/o any editor like FrontPage or Dreamweaver and just use notepad until you've got HTML and CSS down pat.

I can recommend these books from SitePoint:
http://www.sitepoint.com/launch/3c3809
or http://www.sitepoint.com/books/css2/

Both are excellent for learning to do tableless web pages.

You're getting alot of good advice regarding free Editors -- the key is to download several; play with each one and choose the one you feel most comfortable with.

Personally, I've been using Arachnophilia since it first came out quite a few years ago; I especially like the "Preview" button which allows me to see how my website(s) will actually look like in a browser before uploading to the server.
