I have found out that i can do this

www.aviationcafe.net/sample/thesilversword.htm

The username is : webforum
pass: password

But people can get access to my photo's if they use /sample

I am basically trying to have a membership service and i am a newbie starting out

Looks like you figured it out. I just tried it in IE and got asked for a password.

They can still see it after they log in but i dont think it really matters. Half of them wont think to delete some of the address to get to the directory part.

I think you mean directory indexing is turned on. Do you have c-panel? You can do it through there or get your host to turn it off.

Or a blank index.htm file in the directory might help.

i think u need to use a ".htaccess" file. U can program it by yourself.

Right click on it and select hidden.

The best and easiest way:
- Create a index.html or index.php and place it in which folder you wanna hide.
- In that files, use redirect method -( header($location) ) - to redirect guest to which page as you wish.
