Hi people,

I know you are probably all really busy but if someone could spare a few mins to help me. I want to design a website and havent a clue where to begin. The aim of the website is to promote good body image for teenagers. As a mother I am sick of seeing skinny people all over the media and want to make a stand against it. Pls someone help. It has to be free because I have no money but I would like to make a half decent site. Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

Thanks

Ideally you will want to learn basic html and CSS, but if you are in a hurry download www.nvu.com which is an easy to use web page creator. It will allow you to get some basic pages ready for publication.

You could also start with a css-based template. Lots of FREE ones available here:

www.oswd.org
www.openwebdesign.org
www.opendesings.org
or http://csstinderbox.raykonline.com/ - basic templates with no designs applied.

Content Management systems would probably be the best for a beginner. Check our DotNetNuke and Community Server. They are very easy to set up and easy to use.

You can also go for readymade templates as they are too cheap and sometimes free...then you should know html and you will be able to develop a nice website..

Thanks

Who do you have as an ISP? Your ISP might give you the tools you need to get started. For instance, I have Verizon DSL. Verizon gives me 10mb of space and free tools to help design a web page. This may be a way to get you started for free.
