I have been using Tables for designing my website in Dreamviewer entirely for last few years. I have been told by my friend that Layers are very easy to manage and advised me to replace the tables with layers.

Do all ( Specialy IE6 and higher) Browsers support Layers?
Any other issues should concern regarding using Layers?

I suggest you walk away from tables and learn how to code table-less websites using CSS; it's cleaner and your site(s) will load faster.

Let me say this.. THEY ARE NOT "LAYERS" !! I know, DreamWEAVER calls them layers, but that term that is an old holdover from the Netscape Navigator days. Refer to them as DIV's (short for divisions) because that is what they are. You manipulate them and style them using CSS.

DIVS are supported by all browsers, and so is CSS - to varying degrees. IE 6 and below has many, many bugs and non-standard ways of implementing CSS.

If you want to learn to design using "layers", I would stay away from DW. Learn to do it by yourself in code view. DW (in design view) will allow you to insert/drag and drop layers anywhere. DW will spit out absolutely positioned EVERYTHING with bloated style sheets to match.

Just learn by do it by hand.
