I use frames for my site which is done in FrontPage. I'm looking for a way how to incorporate HTML code that will automatically redirect a surfer to the Index, if he clicks on a link in a search engine that has indexed one of the sub-pages, i.e. a page outside frames. Any help would be very much appreciated!!!

Well, I know it can be done in PHP, but...just HTML? I know how to do a redirect, but even if your pages loaded in frames, it would end up redirecting anyway. Anyone know a JS answer?

He's been active the last few days...hopefully he'll see this topic. If I had more time I'd PM him.

Hey all,

Sorry I didn't see this sooner

Try this:

<script language="JavaScript">
if (parent.location.href == self.location.href)
window.location.href = 'index.htm';
</script>

I'm ashamed. Why do people continue to use frames? It's just shocking.

Many users can only code in html, frames provides an instant update to their website. Frames are not that bad, they are pretty much covered on all of the major browsers. So I do not see any harm in it. I say if it works then use it hehe

Yes, frames are supported in most browsers, however, they do cause the user to have a few inconveniences, like not being able to bookmark specific pages! I agree that this is an older technology and should be avoided.

A few reasons why not to use frames - however, with the above solution some of them are voided.
