I am working on making a site that will serve as a portfolio.

Is it best to just have the url of sites you have done or would it be better to have screen dumps and descriptions of them?

I guess if people change the sites after you've done them it could be a problem and allowing people to view the sites without actually clicking them might be nice for the user.

I'm not sure.

What do you think?

I like to keep screen shots of all my sites. I also like to keep all the original site files. If the sites gets shutdown, you still have them to show your work.

I'd say stick with screenshots and the descriptions, since sometimes sites change the URL or eventually change designs. And as Tom M suggested, having a backup in case someone wanted to see the whole site might not be a bad idea. You could upload it to test directory for demonstrational purposes if someone were interested in seeing it.

Yeah, I guess screenshots and a description is the best way to go.

Back to the drawing board...

Certainly! That's what we should always do, also in any circumstances that something went wrong in your server, there's even a backup of it. That's a very good move, .

I'd definately keep a back up!

I think I will do a screen shot, a description and a link.

Its a shame as I just wanted a clean site with a list of links but its not really practicle.
