I have a website hosted on www.europeregistry.com it doesnt really say anywhere about what is supported eg frontpage extensions etc all it does say is * Please note: CGI-BIN and FORM MAIL are not incorporated

I want to create a clean professional looking website for a Data Recovery service, I need to have login accounts where I can post updates that only the client can see and it has to be secure.... I need suggestions tips etc

Any ideas, suggestions welcome web design and graphics etc are not my strong point.. Do you think I should change my host? It's with the europeregistry as I have the extension .it (Just in case anyone wondered)

I had to take down my feeble css tables down due to alignment difficulties and now the site is just a mess.

Look forward to any replies
Regards
Eddie

Eddie I'm not familiar with europeregistry as a host, but their packages look like they offer the usual. For the login functionality you want you're going to need a database and it looks like you would need the bronze, silver, gold packages.

If you don't have one of those you would need to upgrade or find a different host that does offer a database and the ability to connect to it with a programming language.

What you're looking for isn't too complicated, but it's likely you'll want to hire someone to handle the programming, especially since security will be an issue.

I am self funding the business, no loans etc so what sort of figure do you think I should be offering or looking to pay for the design service I'm looking for? I have to admit I did do some back end scripting myself 3 years ago on a personal site and the security was awful. I had one customer but by the time I got to my database having been hacked it was too late so I shut up shop. This time I will not code it myself if I can help it. Although I have had an offer of help from a family member but I don't know much of his capabilities. Any suggestions for hiring someone how to find trustworthy individuals.

I will have to upgrade the subscription too your right there.
Thanks
Regards
Eddie

Eddie the price would depend on the requirements for the site and who you decide to hire. I'm sure you can find someone to do the site for $50, but you have to keep in mind you get what you pay for. If budget is a big issue there are sites where you can find free templates. OSWD is one place.

With the login will the clients be uploading files, images, etc? Or is it more that you'll be posting things and you only want each client to be able to see what you post for them? If it's the latter then you can probably set something like that up through the hosting account itself. Most hosting accounts should allow you to create directories that you can password protect.

You would create the directory, set up a username and password and give the info to the client.
