I keep seeing poncy web 2.0 designs all over the net these days and tried to replicate it myself. I'm not really sure how people get there websites to look so nice, I'm hoping some people can give me some pointers in how to make a cool "Web 2.0" style design.

So far I have: www.detroitcobras.co.uk - I tried adding some round corners but thought it looked weird. I would appreciate some guidance... is there something missing that absolutely must be included for it to look at all "Web 2.0"-like?

Many Thanks,
Will

There is an article that seems to sum up web 2.0 design principles. Keep in mind that it is still always subjective since web 2.0 is more of a concept than a specific set of rules.

A lot of it is to do with two things - impressive graphics and simple design. I've been messing about today making a test page: http://www.whatsthedate.info/indextest.html

Take a look - i tried to make it "Web 2.0" style!

Hope it helped

The problem with trying to define Web 2.0 as a style is that the definition is very loose and subject to individual tastes. For instance, I personally think that neither of your designs embody Web 2.0 style but that does not mean that I'm right or wrong.

To me, this is a good example of Web 2.0 style. http://www.basecamphq.com/api/

There are not a lot of fancy graphics, white space is utilized extensively, it's attractive and it's dead simple.
