and do i have to put in in the initial step or worry on it later after all the coding has been done?

PayPal has numerous payment integration methods - some as simple as instant "pay" buttons. Either way you will need a paypal premium account to integrate it into a site. Sign up and check out the "merchant" section for the various integration options.
