MP3 Download Question

A quick question from a relative newbie...!

I have built an MP3 download site and it does everything I want it to do (including giving visitors access to a Members Only area) with ONE exception. In most MP3 sites I have used, once you click on the "download" link a little download window pops up asking you where you want to save the file. How can I get one of these to pop up instead of the link automatically triggering the default media player to open? Is it something to do with FTP?

It's probably a simple answer but I'm stumped!

All suggestions gratefully received.

Thanks

MT

Try zipping the files in a program such as winzip, and then pointing the link to the zipped file. If the link points to a .mp3 file, the browser will automatically try to open up the link and play it.
Hope this helps.

I think its a matter of your browser/operating system... I just left-clicked a song (.mp3) and I _DO_ get a console asking me to save/open the file. On "save" I can choose the destination, on "open" it loads winamp as it is my default mp3 player.

did you test your site on your local computer? it's probably because of that. try to upload a page and the corresponding mp3 and test it

The better thing will be to use a compression software (winzip, rar) but u can also change the extension of the file, but advert the client to changeit back to mp3
