Hi all,
What should i use to slice my websites for use in dreamweaver
I have been told that its easier to slice it in fireworks becuase it can be easily imported into dreamweaver
but i always design in photoshop and opening the psd up in fireworks can mess the colour up

I would use Photoshop to slice however I wouldn't have it auto-generate the template. I would just export the slices that I need and construct the template in Dreamweaver just as I would any other design.

What export settings do you use to save the images in photoshop?

You use Save for Web - as JPG or GIF. You can use PNG w/o worry IF it's not transparent. IE 6 and below doesn't support PNG transparency w/o some scripting and even then it doesn't support repeating transparent images.

This is just my experience, but I've found that while pngs tend to look better when there's a lot of fine detail, mainly edges, they can weigh five times as much as a jpeg of similar quality. Similar meaning anyone but you probably won't notice.

So I only use pngs when I need the transparency. And then I curse everyone who worked on IE 6.

Agreed, PNGs can be a LOT 'heavier' in file size. They are fantastic for transparency, if it weren't for that demon-spawn of a browser

I agree with Republikin. I do not like auto-generated templates and I usually just code whatever is on a .png file.
