I'm an in-house web designer right now and I make web pages from scratch using code. However, my boss was so nice as to purchase Dreamweaver for me which makes coding so much easier than using notebook ( which is what I used to use, such is the life of a poor college student ). Anyway, before you know it the pages are rollin' out and my boss comes along and says, "Cool, now how can I change this when you're gone?". And I say "Fear not, Dreamweaver has a design section where you can change the page without knowing about the code..."

This is when I clicked over to the design option in Dreamweaver, it was a bloody mess. I half expected this to happen having used Dreamweaver in the past. But my boss, having forked over the money for the program, isn't amused.

So now that I've given you a page out of my diary, can anyone suggest a way to make the design page work? Perhaps I need a mod of some sort or change some system configurations?

The design part just works. There must be something with your code.

the design has never worked for me... I use standard html and css code. There's nothing special or funky about my coding as far as I know...

Are you saying no one else has this problem but me?? T_T

Do you have a design-time CSS file ??

You might want to read this:

Dreamweaver always messes up in Design View for me. It is a Dreamweaver problem.

I have websites that validate to w3c compliance, look great in IE and Firefox, but they look like crap in Dreamweaver. It is mainly an issue with <div> tags.

No, it's an issue with the out-dated version of IE that DW users as it's internal viewer ! It has NOTHING to do with div tags.

Fair enough, but I was talking about my websites appearance in Dreamweaver Design View. The only issue I have relates to Div tags. Everything else displays just fine.

That is because IE does a horrible job of rendering CSS - at least the version embedded as DW's internal viewer.
