I used to use them on my old site but just ended up a mess cause u cant give out addresses when telling people to go to pages. Also your site wont get very far on google.

So i strongly advise you dont use them!

You should never use frames. Not only does it prevent search engines from indexing each of your pages but it will also cause problems for users who are surfing the internet with old and third party browsers.

Not only that, frames look unprofessional unless they are made un-obvious. Many newbs to website design as an easy way out rather than properly coding their websites with a decent table structure. This then leaves a mark of unprofessionalism that expert graphical work cannot hide.

My advice would be to steer clear of all forms of frames, traditional or "i-frames" because of the poor results obtained.

no. I've used them in the past, and were useful when I started off (When I was too lazy to mess around with tables and things - going back 6 years now lol).

Wow. A lot of people have said no. But hey! Wait! Let's have some constructive criticism here! Sure people have used them but I don't think that enough people have given them a descent chance! I myself have gone from frames to no frames to frames. I'll never switch again. If you have enough knowledge and I admit patience then frames can be succesful and easy to use! Yes on frames.

Oh. almost forgot. Let's expand on this. IFRAMES are even better. They provide convenience to the developer and IFRAMES and FRAMES can be completely seamless!

Are you sure you wouldn't rather vote "Yes"? I mean, Yes has more letters then No.
But let me review:
Pro | Con
~~~~~~
Easy To Setup | Search result may lead to single page.
~~~~~~
To resolve this, you can do someone like if the last page was not from the main domain then open the page along with the other frames.
~~~~~~
Fast, don't have to keep reloading | *thinks hard* If newbs use them, they can look poor.
~~~~~~
If a newb creats a site, is it not going to look poor anyway?
~~~~~~
Seemless | Old Browser's may not support them
~~~~~~
Be REALISTIC! Old browser's? Its practically ilegal to surf with anything < IE 4.0!!!!
~~~~~~
If you have a high quaility menu, header that is a little on the big side then reloading it everytime a user changes pages is, well, unacceptable! Im on dial-up, people, what did I ever do to you?
Well if anyone else has anything to add to either side, im open to suggestions.
@zork:
I would reccomend that you never employ i-frames on your website. Even If you can seamlessly integrate them into your website without making them obvious and tacky there are still majior problems to be faced. Until recently, internet explorer was the only web browser that supported them. However now i-frames are vaugly supported - there are still large numbers of people that use older versions of browsers (remember - not as many people are as tech wise as the people that post on this forum).
Additionaly - those whom employ frames on their website recieve lower ratings in search engines. In some cases (lycos and msn) will not index your page if you are using frames.
Additionaly it is verry difficult to effectivly employ frames and make the website look good. I have personal experience with frames and it is a tricky ride to make them look polished.
You have my opinion...
I agree. In the days where frames were useful has really... well, gone. They are still useful if you're new however (text-coding, not WYSIWYG)
*waves white flag*
Well... my pagerank has been horrible and I suppose thats due to frames. I converter my site to no-dynamic content witch will hopefully make it search friendly.
