I am getting a new website and the question came if to have the whole site at the left of the screen or dead center... what is better?

most people like it in the center, if you notice any website you go to most of them have it center, but left is k too sometimes depending on the design.

I don't know that it's automatically better, but I greatly prefer sites that are centered, at least those that have a fixed width to them.

I think by centering them it appears to leave less unused space around the site since the space is cut in half. To me it seems silly to have a site aligned to the left edge and then leave a lot of empty space on the right. I think the balance by centering the page is much better.

I like the center better but everyone told me to go to the left because of the pda users... I think I will go with the center after all...

PDA users are (almost literally) one in a million when compared to browser users. If it became a real issue, then code a PDA alternative.

With one exception, I don't know of a single site that I work on that has more than .0001% PDA usage.

Centered definatly... i always ask clients whether they want centered or left and they always pick centered.

Most of the center aligned sites I've seen still end up along the left edge on my PDA. If it's an issue you can create two style sheets one for a monitor and one for the mobile device.

yeah appeal to PDAers. They make up Sooooo much of your userbase.
