Hey Again

I found I had a spare domain lying around (from a year ago!) So I thought I would put it to good use. The Ethical SEO Guide is designed to be a full guide on structuring sites (onsite SEO) and Networking (Offsite SEO).

At the moment I have got a basic design up there as I have mainly been focusing on the content (some of it from the ebook but more of the networking stuff is new)

The site itself is a test of the ideas inside I am launching it today will be adding new content to it as I go and will be updating the site with information on its own status in the search engine.

So please let me know what you think of the design, It is basic but I am not sure of where to go from here with it.

Jamie

Interesting idea. One thing I would say is to watch how many times you say on the home page what the site will not do. I understand why you have that, but if someone tells you too often what they won't do I think it clouds the message of what they will do. You can probably reframe the language to say the same thing, but come across from the positive side.

If you still use frames or tables for the main structure of your site then this guide is not for you and I would suggest you quickly learn some modern techniques or get out of the web game
I find that rather offensive, however I do use CSS for designs, there are those that prefer tabled structures which do the job. Don't offend your users. A friendly tip that people who use Frames for the main parts of their design will affect their SEO and render alot of advice useless, is all that is needed.

The idea is great (although there are a lot of similar things in the net )... and the design - if anyone decides to read it, it will be despite of the design not because of it...

Good Point, am working on a rewrite at the moment.

It may be offensive but it is the truth. If developers don't have a good working knowledge of standards then the advice offered becomes useless and so will they. I will consider rewording.

I don't know about rewording that part, Jamie. As offensive as it may be to some, it might actually work in your favour.

Think about it...if you piss someone off, what's the first thing they do? They go complaining about it to anyone that will listen. You might even polarize some opinions, and that usually works out well for the person who created the polarization (is that a word?)

The only thing that I noticed is that there are a few places at the end of paragraphs where you're missing periods (paragraph 2 on the home page, for example.) Go through your copy and look for that.

Other than that, I think you just need to bring out your content more (which is what you're going to do), put the logo on the top, and come up with a bit more attractive design (it doesn't have to go overboard, but you'll come up with something.)

You also need to re-read it for spelling and grammar errors, you've got a couple

As for your wording, even though I'm a standards advocate, it does come off as very arrogant and pretty rude. I do believe there are lots of table-based sites (much as I despise them) that are at the top of the search engines.
