Website Review and Suggestions

Hello people,

I've been working hard to finish my web-screenshots.com site, and I'd like you to take a look at it and to give any feedback you may have.
It's a service that allows you to retrieve live screenshots of any page/web site you specify.
I've seen some threads asking about this lately, and it pushed me to finalize this site who was left over for 1 full year.

I particular, I'd like you to test the service, as I don't know exactly how the service will react upon concurrent request, especially since it's running on a vps server.

I've setup a test account with 2'000 screenshots available with those login infos:

pass: _wmaster_

Hi Tripy.

Firstly, a few spelling/grammar corrections:
1) On second line down, first paragraph, correct "poducts" to "products"

(same in all of the "what is it about?" sections)
2) I suggest you change "integrate web sites screenshots" into "integrate web site screenshots" - just remove the s, or you could add a ' after the s, but I think the first idea looks and reads better
3) The header on the product info says "product infos", not "product info"
4) On features page, under reliability, change it to read "the system relies upon" rather than "the system rely uppon".
5) On the features page under "real time", change "unless" to "unlike" I think.
6) In the 50% reduction section, I think it is supposed to read "the more hits that are done...."
7) On the service pricing page, correct the spelling mistake in the header from "service pricning" to "service pricing".
8) On the service pricing page, under the bonus table, change "buyed" to "bought".
9) On the same page, change "it seems normal for us that you don't pay a full cost for it" to "it seems normal for us that you don't pay the full cost for it"
10) On the signup page, change "pricvacy" to "privacy".
11) On the /customer/tags page, under the professional box which is in pink, change "IP adresses" to "IP addresses".

Right. After all of that is now over, I think the site design is fairly good and quite suiting and it's very easy to navigate

The idea is a good one and I think it will work for you, especially since your domain name is very suiting for it - well done.

One thing however with the URL - might it be possible for people to work out that uid=6 means user ID is no. 6, and therefore people could use someone elses credits etc. A suggestion for this would be to change uid=6 to something like ahbd=143 (something random and unguessable) which would make this less easy to guess. Also by spacing customers out could help - instead of customers starting at 1 then 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 etc., they could be like 5, 43, 98, 143 etc. so that it would be less easy for people to use others credits. Just a thought.

Not my strong point in English.
And thanks too for the comments on the site name and design.
I spent time looking and searching for something the most appropriate as possible.

About the screenshot credits, you are right, and a feature have been designed to prevent this.
The system allows to put an access limitation list.
A bit like the .htaccess allow/deny block.
But, on a simple integration through an img tag, I cannot restrict it by default.
Peoples not reading the explanation would otherwise bomb me that the service don't work.
So, the default policy is to let anyone access the service, and it's up to the user to setup an access list if he wants to.

When a user goes on the setup page, it's clearly stated that unless they take appropriate measures, they can have their account depleted that way.

An "Restricted" policy means that the host trying to access the webshots are checked against an access authorisation list.
This list is composed of the "accepted hosts" and "Denied hosts".
If you put an "www.yoursite.com" in "accepted hosts", and "*" in "denied hosts", only request coming from "www.yoursite.com" will be granted.
This feature allows you to fine tune how your webshots are used (or misused) and to prevent hotlinking.

I just have been working it a bit further, and I've included an javascript link previews, a la snap.com

It's only have been tested on firefox for now, but what do you think ?
Appart the fact that I need to work on a logo and that I'm waiting on the google adsense team as it's ok to incorporate their search this way?

Or is the search field too much ?
