Website Review and Suggestions

I used a prefab skin and it's still early days (sometime in the next 7 or 8 years when I have some time I'll re-skin my blog in a style more appropriate to the seriousness of my subjects).

I can't see myself getting out of two main categories: true stories, humor

I have a butt-load (thanks Adam) of true stories I've gathered over the decades and I want to share a few of them.

Some of you will be shocked by the fact I've written some not-so-serious entries...these are recycled poop I've had around. Total fiction.

I don't expect to write every day as many of my WMT mentors do but I will contribute new goodies from time to time.

I would appreciate a review and some ideas of what types of plug-ins I may want to consider in my WP.

Not sure if you are interested in design critique since you say you are using a stock template, but I notice a few things:

- All the parts of the site have rounded corners, except for the posts section. For consistency I think it would be better to have the corners rounded.

- I have mixed feelings about the green highlighting on links in the side bars. I don't think they will make anyone go away.

In terms of non layout stuff the one thing I would like is a more obvious link to the RSS feed.

Good God almighty. He's not only stealing my catchwords and phrases, he's stealing my irreverent stupidity! **** you, DaveBob! **** YOU TO HELLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!

My only real issue is with the skin itself. You know me, Dave...I'll never dig anything pre-fab, especially when it has two links to its creators. One is bad enough, but two?

Never mind that, it's not your skin. I'd rather look at a crappy skin and know the guy did it himself than look at some recycled Beccary skin or featured Wordpress theme skin or something. Come on, Dave, get your hack on!

I know you well enough to know that the content will come. You're already off to a great start...or a bad one, depending on your perspective. Goofiness rules!

One more thing I just noticed...you'll want your URLs to appear of the form http://www.adpoo.com/page-slug , rather than http://www.adpoo.com/?p=1 . Better SEOly goodness and all that.

Yeah Adam I KNEW you would pound my head over the template issues /*hangs head in shame*/ - I just haven't had a second to design up my own skin, do any 'es eeee oh' stuff...

I'm probably less worried about the user-friendly URL's simply because I don't see this site as anything more than an outlet for my stupidity (which signifies it will be a huge site with so much fodder at hand).

Changes will come along sslooooowwwwly... but they will come.

Now you're using my template! (well I took a quick peek earlier and I don't remember that one being the one). This template isn't strictly mine

but I do use it for my blog. Grrrrr! Lol. I better hurry up and learn how to make my own Wordpress theme

Just take an existing one and hack the crap out of it, whym. It's great fun and you can do a lot of damage in the process if you're not careful (I locked up IIS on my local host twice.

I guess this would be possible. I was just writing here "wouldn't that infringe on the licensing?" but then I realised that thats only if you want to redistribute. The only problem is would I then keep the link in the bottom of not? I mean if the whole thing is changed, it's hardly theirs, but then again, it's theirs at the core?! I don't know

The background is a bit distracting; I am not a fan of the repeating logo. All of the mlb sites do it and it gets on my nerves every time I visit the yanks page. Other than that I think it looks ok, I actually read your blog and I have to say I will be back to read more (that photo of the man-kid kind of freaked me out, I’m not going to be able to sleep tonight.)

Point taken about background pattern... could be a change coming. The freaky looking man-child is actually a merge of Mr. Bean and some poor infant...

I dont dig the tiled R, especially on a system with a 60hz refresh rate, a color and picture like that is murder to my pupils.

Otherwise looks good, interesting choice on pictures for the articles though.

Maybe you could make the RC in the background a bit more faded / transparent so that it isn't as "in your face"?

I like the simpleness of it.

ps. Is the cafe in the header in Paris? I am sure I have been there.

Great observation Nick. Cafe is indeed in Paris (my favorite place to visit)...
