On the design side, I cannot say much. But your's is way more clean and clear. I don't feel as attacked as the "car credit" one.
I'd say mostly because of the color scheme, and the fact that it stay on my 1024x768 screen without scrollbars.
But anyway, if it was your decision to quit, look forward rather than backward.
They hired an office monkey !? Bah, so what ?
Just go your way, and let them deal with it.
I almost did that once, except I was fired before (he..) and seriously, my work became more and more interesting and rewarding as I was going further.
And I'm totally convinced that I would not have reached the place I'm now if I had stayed in that company.
