Good enough to charge for?

Everything I've learned about web design has been through trial and error, so I would not say I'm an expert but I've built websites before and people have paid me for them. I was wondering if I should contiune and maybe make a small business doing web sites but I would like to know what real experts thought of my sites first.

Anyway here is one that is 99% finished, I am still waiting on more text. This is the first website I have charged for - CLICK HERE TO VIEW . I think the load time might be a little slow but I don't know how to fix that without getting ride of the few photos I have.

Here is the second site, it is almost done aswell. I am just waiting on some text and photos - CLICK HERE TO VIEW .

This is one still needs alot more done to it, I just started it but the basic design is up and some reviews would be great so If I get some good advice I can use it with this site before I get too far in it. - CLICK HERE TO VIEW .

Anyway, I would really appericate some reivews, it would help me out alot. Also, if I do decided to make a small business out of this, what kind of prices should I charge?

Thanks!

I'm not a fan of Flash sites but yours look pretty good.
Although those sites could all be done with CSS and html.
I see no need for the flash application.
And those who dont have flash installed can't see it.

the sites seem too boxed and just adding round corners on your main page layout and a drop shadow will give it that bit oomph, my first commercial site shows you what i mean, www.ideallawns.biz

may i cheekily asked what you charged your clients for both sites as i don't know what to charge aswell

I like the third one a lot. I can tell you have good design skills, so you should really look into learning html if you want to do this more..

Hey,
I like your sites as well. Normally I don't like flash sites, but yours are simple and colors are used pretty well here.
The only thing that I'm wondering is, why you're using such a large font.
Boxing the site doesn't bother me at all...and adding the round stuff and shadow doesn't fit within your design at all.

You can make a business with this and if you learn some html and css, you'll be able to attract more business.

yes, imo they are good enough to charge for but there is no need for them sites to be flash at all, you can do exactly that with using good quality code both xhtml and css

the layouts and color's are nice and work well together on all sites, get rid of the flash and you'll be on to a winner

Hi,
I have see ur first site, it really a bit slow, it loading more than 2 minutes, the page look great.

But one thing you should pay attention to, ur site seems use frame to build and use many picture, although, it looks wonderful for costumer, but the seach engine usually can't distinguish frame, you'd better learn some knowledge of SEO. It is helpful for ur site RANK .

If you're going to offer web design services to people then I recommend you learn XHTML and CSS.

Otherwise you'd have to rely on your salesmanship and Flash design to really sell yourself, but you'll be really limited.

Yes, designing in flash all the time isn't perfect. Flash is good when used appropriately in some situations on web pages but it can be overused - it's best when it is combined with HTML and CSS on a web page.

I am not one to pay for site access, but if I were, what you have done is pretty good.

I think they look really good. I would agree that you should learn css and xhtml. If you can learn flash you can learn xhtml and css. Plus it would make you more diverse in what you can do.

I wish I could learn flash....(off to buy another book)

I don't have much to this, other than to reiterate what others have already said. You've got pretty pictures down pat, as well as making stuff move. But the best web designs are user-friendly and search-engine-friendly, and Flash fits neither of those categories.

Pretty will solve things in the short run, but good code solves 'em in the long run.

Let me put it to you this way.

Your sites look good but they will be rejected if you try to submit either of them to our Directory.
Reason: because it took more then 8 seconds for page to fully open up
Advice: don’t punish site visitors by making them wait and drop flash from
at least your index page
