I would like suggestions or comments (good or bad) for my search engine spider.
Currently I am just using it as free tool and letting everyone use it for whatever reason you may want to.
Here it is:
http://www.inet411.com/tools/spider/spider.php

It currently shows the metatags (keywords, description and title), total links on that page, total keywords on that page. Also it checks your keywords and gives you a keyword density.

If there is anything that should be added or taken away please let me know.

I would like to make it as robust as possible. I will always leave it as a free tool, but in the future I plan to use it to start indexing the web.

Nope! I don't think it's a scam-bot, as I can see a very neat and detailed report for my site.

That's really a great job.

I surely can give you some suggestions.

I will pass them to you as they come up.

ATB!

I don't know what a scam bot it but I'm assuming that it isn't good.
It is just a spider written in php. Thank you everyone for the kind words (and the bad, I'm going to lookup scam bot).
Is my spider actually useful. Does anyone care about keyword density anymore?
Just a quick question - are the top keywords that are being shown the same as your chosen keywords? I tried to make an alogorithm that show metatag relevancy compared to your page content.

You missed the meta description tag on this page. The keywords aren't there, so I guess that's okay. (I don't bother with them anyway.)

Worrying about keyword density is a thing of the past, though. You write about the topic with 1-2 keywords in mind and focus on your users and you'll do fine, just fine.

It didn't pick up your description because your description tag reads:
<meta name="description" value="An .....
it should read
<meta name="description" content="An .....

I like your site by the way, it is very clean and organized.

Yes and no. 'Most' pop ups are spawned with the javascript onload()
But just because a site has an onload function does not mean it is going to spawn a popup. Plus people are getting smart and using css overlays for popups and include .js files instead of onload etc... I don't think an effective popup detector could be made with php. It would either flag too many sites or not enough.

If you are using a proxy it may not work. The script relies on sessions to keep the answer from robots.

As for the page layout, I don't think I like the yellow background for the navigation part. Also the google rectangular ad on the bottom of the page should maybe be less wide. Maybe a 468X60 or 728X60 style ad might make the page look nicer.

Thank you. Yes I can program but I am horrible at design. I see everything like the matrix (numbers and letters) my brain works on information not visual so obviously it reflects in my poor design. I will change the google ads that is a great idea. What do you suggest for the navigation container?
