Website Review and Suggestions

Hi all,
After taking a look at some of your exelent web building, I decided to take the plunge and offer my effort for assesment.
Please be delicate with me as this is my very 1st effort and as yet dont know how to code or do all the script stuff, but I will.
My site is based on 80's music and is flash heavy.

would also love a good pointer to get it into the top search engines.

First of all, let me appreciate your efforts.
I've a few suggestions.
Overall It looks nice, it would be better if you modify your css to look attractive.
The flash header also looks nice

Good first effort. maybe a change of font to a non-serif font. maybe justify the text. maybe too many colours

I am really not a fan of flash menus, black backgrounds, or purple text, but you have somehow managed to make all of them look good together.

If you want to get better at web design, I would learn as much as possible about CSS as you can. You have good taste and would make an excellent designer (trust me, if you can make those three things I mentioned work together visually, you can do anything).

Learn to hand code as much as possible. There is a big problem when relying on flash to navigate: If the end-user doesn't have flash installed, he won't get anywhere! There are all sorts of things you can do with google's site maps, but I would rather not go there. If you learn to code you can present a pure html/css alternative to flash that will work even with it disabled.

Keep learning, you are off to a great start.

He knows what hes talking about. Seriously, it drove me crazy after about 3 blinks.

agreed, especially in the list down the side, and too be honest, i think you could do with sticking to just one colour in the main section (for the tracklists etc...)

but generally i like it, youve done well, love the ipods btw, did you make them yourself?

nice effort... nice flash header, and the ipods are cool! 1 thing i noticed is that, there are too many colors.. try limit your color in 2-3 colors.... i guess you've used that colors in order for you to organize your categories.. try to come up with another idea on how to organized your categories...

As it is your first effort, you have really done well. just little more work on your CSS to make it more attractive.

Thanx for all your comments I have taken tham on board.

The flashing link to the forum was a mistake at first but I thought it would highlight it better...guess not lol

The colour scheme for the text was supposed to correspond with the catagories as somone mentioned...& to make it feel retro & club like as i think I achieved with my banner...again will take note

The font I quite liked...!

Adjusting the CSS MMmmm (gonna have to read up on that a bit)

I am making a few modifications as sugested at the moment and will implement them soon. thanx for all you suggestions keep em coming..

The flashing does highlight it better, I think more people will goto the forum just to get it to stop blinking :-) Did you create the flash yourself? Nice work.

Very nice. Amazing quality music. Nice choice of colours, effects, and shading. And I love 80's music too.

Good initial design. I agree with some of the gys that you need to look at your CSS to make the fonts better to read and in keeping with the site.

I do like the Ipod and the tune on them. Bring back the 80's???

Very good! A few problems:
- You are missing a few apostrophes (it's, can't e.t.c.)
- I think that the website name should be shown all the time
- The forum banner should be in the style of the main banner
- A few too many colloquialism for my liking, often on top of each other
- When viewed in a low resolution, the right side is cut off. It happens at quite a small decrease.
- Get a better font
- The direct HTML addresses are impossible to use, because of the spaces, and subsequent %20s in the page address.
That's all!

I had to look up the word colloquialism....LOL

The missing apostrophes are due to a lack of
concentration & will be rectified.

I noticed the %20 problem after I uploaded it to the web
and only then realised what it was...lots to change !

I will take a look at the banner, I agree it should state the
web site name at all times.

I still can't see the problem with the font, maybe because
this is all still new to me, can somone please elaborate on this
with a possible example so I can compare.

Well effort, very good lay-out and contrast for back ground, try to change font colors and style for more visibility.........

Is this really your first effort? If it is, you are going to go very far! I like it a lot, even better if it was for 70s rock music!
