Website Review and Suggestions

Hi,
My vision was to create a website where average people like me could discuss issues that affected them locally in and around where they lived. So far as you can see no one has submitted a comment and the site looked dead and not very inviting. That's when I came across a site that allows you to embed news feeds into your website. In an attempt to bring life into my website I started customizing news feeds for each State with the hopes of generating comments.
I think I went overboard with embedding news feeds into my site.
Please let me know what you think and how I can make it better.

Your front page is optimized for broadband users and not dial up. You have like 20+ articles on the front page, most with videos or something to load. Defiantly not dial up friendly! Even with my cable internet your site took a while to load and was slow. Consider only showing about 5 articles on the front page to speed up load time!

Great concept but way way too much video on the front page. The videos are good information but if you want to still use them. Create categories and put your videos in them. Then visitors could see the videos based on their interests.

Thank you very much for your comments! I created links to the videos and articles. It loads pretty fast now. I hope it doesn't make it more boreing of a site.

Hello...Overall not bad. However, the headings...using the navy colored bars with the black lettering is very hard to read. You need to either lighten the bars or change the color of the lettering. It should be very easy to view. Hope this helps. Good Luck....
