I would like to submit my website for review. Its located at www.bldhosting.net

What i've tried to do here is include the "product", so to speak, in the website that is offering or advertising it. The product being, Free forum Hosting.

All criticism is welcome, good or bad, and once again the link is www.bldhosting.net

I see one major problem with your site: it's big, it's moving, it's distracting, it's something that makes me want to close the browser window as fast as I can: it's the strange navigation system with IE's and Notepad's icons floating in a circle. What's the point with that?

I mean sure, it looks kind of cool effect. But after the "cool effect" feeling goes away (took some 0.5 seconds with me), it's just annoying and makes it quite impossible to read the texts in your site or focus on anything else.

Other than that, I think the layout of your site is pretty solid, though I don't know if you really need those Statistics and Links boxes. And without them, you could move the login right to the header (top right corner), or to the left under Welcome Guest box.

The color scheme is a bit dull if you ask me. You could easily fix it by getting a better header image, the one you now use looks a bit self-made (again, imho).

You should think about using a dedicated font style for links, now you use bold black text for links and this makes it pretty difficult to say what parts of your site is actually clickable. Using underlined links is usually the best, both for usability and for conversion.

I've taken your criticism seriously, and have made a couple of changes. Thank you for your feedback.

Some comments:

1. It's clean (I didn't see the version with the floaty bits).
2. The top blue banner has a lot of spare space in it that's not being used.
3. The login is at the bottom, below the fold. Consider moving it up, possibly to the dark grey bar.
4. The -> Free Forum graphic underneath "Create Now" looks odd. The text seems to fade at the top.
5. The 6 green tick marks all link to the create page. Consider changing this so they link to an FAQ page with more info. Two example formats (be aware I'm using pages from one of my own sites before you click on them) are: example 1 - tabular, example 2 - text-oriented.
6. You're using page effects when moving from page to page. Personally I really don't like this, plus they do not work in FireFox. Consider removing.
7. The P over "The home of Free Hosting..." looks a little strange and out of place.
8. The drop down menus on the menu do not fit the style of the rest of the site.

Hope those help!

Paul.

I like the imrpovements you made, though the graphics with the checkmarks lack a bit of design finesse. But that can be fixed easily. I suggest putting a "Sign up" or "Get one" button that's easy to see so that people don't have to go searching for a way to get your free forums. Oops. As I wrote that I saw the "Create now" graphic. Well, it might be an indication that 1) the graphic looks like a logo rather than a button and 2) it seems so out of place that it doesn't flow well with the rest of the content.

Anyhow, good luck. It seems promising!

Thank you for the input. I've added an effect upon rollover to the "Create Now" Image. Also, i'll be linking the Green Arrow image with a FAQ or an info like page. However, what i feel looks odd, is the News section to the right. Does anyone share this feeling. How could I improve this?

I like it, however the P does look strange... What's it stand for?
I noticed on the heading saying "About BLD Hosting" the A is too close to the edge. I would put a space or two before it, or make the background expand across the whole content area (since it's shared with the other heading as well.

Some time ago, in the header, it would say "ossibly the best. The home of free hosting" The p repsenting the P in possibly. However, i noticed that sounded a bit too corny : D so i recently removed it, but haven't had time to remove the P.
