Website Review and Suggestions

Hi,

It's round three of the design (can't really take credit for all of it, some of the graphics are not mine of course), add a 'welcome' block. I would really appreciate suggestion and ideas on how to spice up the main part, it looks kinda boring to me but I have no idea how to spice it up. This part is really problematic as it reflects in the normal page layout as well, add this to the fact that normal pages don't have all the graphics the main page does, it looks even more boring. Would really appriciate any suggestion or ideas :-)

Don't pay attention to the text, its random, wrote whatever came to mind at the moment.

Can you program? Every "site" you have listed for review is just a flattened image file. A web site is only as good as the coding behind it.

It's a nice Web 2.0 design, but can you make it work?

Of course, whats would be the point if I couldn't? :-)
The thing is, I'm really short on time these months, so I'm stuck on the design part for some time now, working on it about 2 hours a week or so. Because of it, I plan to do all the design work on photoshop and only when its 100% ready to code it, so I won't waste time on coding and recoding.

Ahh, I see. Thanks for the explanation. I was confused.

My only other comment is that it's odd how some of the thumbnails have rounded corners and others don't.

Overall, great. Some points though:

1. "Welcome to Sitename.com" shouldn't be underlined - normal people understand underlined text as a link.

2. "Hotel Reviews", "Nightlife Guide", "Share Your Experience" -- must be in one horizontal line, as well as "Read more...". Though... "Read more" is not needed at all IMHO. Like in Chosen Articles.

3. "Newest galleries" & "Hottest videos" should be in one line, too

))

4. Gallry descriptions are too robotic. Just write "[Title] by [Author] [date]" and that's all.

Yeh, I haven't decided on this, rounded corner or non- rounded corners, with black border or without. What do you think look best?

Yeh, you are right,good point!

Yeh, I wasn't sure how I should place it, as the blocks don't have the same height. If you think it looks better that way I will change it.

I agree, it does look better.

Personally speaking, i dont really care for the search box in the location where u have it. However, im not sure wherelse i would put it. Secondly, i wouldnt put "newest galleries". I would leave it just as "Galleries". The same goes for Vidoes, just leave it as "Videos". Besides that it flows pretty nice, its not to much and its easy on the eyes which is always a plus in my book.

At first I though about placing in the body on the right, but I just didn't have the space.

Btw, don't you think the body need more styling? to spice it up? maybe in the main page it isn't as obvious because it has a lot of icons and other graphics. But I think it is really obvious on normal pages.
It really isn't ready, but it clearer here, the text just don't have any spice to it, or is it just me?

i think it looks great man, i love it, but yea i notice the same as the other guy that some are rounded edges and some arent
