I think the main thing you can do to improve it is to not have any stretched images in there, the banner image looks really nasty as it has been stretched so much!

ditto the stretched image - and it should be a jpeg NOT a gif

"The aim of this website is to gather, collate..." this is a tautology (gather and collate are synonyms)

don't like the serif text - use verdana or arial instead, or tahoma

colour scheme could be a bit more mystical

why the duplicate navigation?

the coloured initial letters look old and not good

Very nice site, could do with a little more content on the pictures as im sure there are lots around. i agree the background makes it look a little pure and clean, a mystical type of background would be great.

but V good..

I like the clean look of the site.
I would definitely use a sans-serif font for the body of your page.

- its clean but the buttons could use a little more work and you may want to experiment with some different type faces and sizes
