Your site was just fine. You can use promotional ads, social bookmarking, and free directories submission for traffic, try also article and press release. Those are helpful to your site. ^_^
You could go on forums about travel, about thialand, about retirement etc. Sign up for the forum and become a regular. Throughout your conversations you can mention about your site. Put a link in your signature etc. Just make sure to really care about the people on the forum and do not spam them.
