Website Review and Suggestions

I was asked to design this site by the president of my fraternity (national president). I'm trying to make it easy to navigate but also pleasing to the eye. There won't be a plethora of information on the finished site and as of now there is none. The forums link is the only one that works and leads to another chapter's (my local chapter) forum.

I like that fact that you customized the skin of your forum. However it makes it a bit hard to read the text. I think that them main body (where the forums are) should be faded out like a watermark, that would make it more comfortable to read text.

The main site looks like it will be easy to navigate. A few suggestions:
1) Work with the header graphic. I checked it out and it is evident that the actual graphic that is filling the header is larger than the height/width that you have given it on the site. This is causing the graphic to look fuzzy. You need to reduce the graphic to actual screen size so that it doesn't do that.
2) The red background is too bright. Perhaps you can go with #CCCCCC for the background. Your links can be #666666 and upon rollover turn to the red that you are using. Just a suggestion

I've changed the two images as you suggested and created a new stylesheet to compare the recommendations you gave with what I already have.

Very soothing colors and clean design.

I wonder if there's any way the background logo could be lighten just a bit so that when the text go on, the text could be more easily discernable.

The logo on the top is not clear enough.

Otherwise, nice work!

Thank you everyone for your input, it's been very helpful. Big thanks to HeadDiva for the background color idea, it looks much better, though I used a gold color for the links instead of the grey, I found the grey blends into the Wright Flyer too much. I lightened the background logo as well and it looks real nice now. Unfortunately, the only way that logo can be sharper is if I enlarge it. I tried that but I found it looks out of porportion with everything else, but thanks for the suggestion anyways BrowserSite. Again, I appreciate all the feedback.

I've done quite a bit of work on the site lately and have actually added some content (*GASP*). I've added rounded edges to the boxes instead of using borders, which was probably the hardest change to make. The alumni page still doesn't exist, but that's ok. I also moved the Forum from phpBB to Drupal, which I really like. I'd like opinions on my modified them there as well. Anyways, thankyou all for the help you have given me thus far.

The site is very clean and simple. Its not the most attractive website on the net, but it is very soothing. If you used some fonts other than Times New Roman it would help the look, give it a more professional edge. And you may want to sharpen up that banner. Other than that, its simple and full of content, something a lot of sites are missing.
