I'm just looking for any feedback. May it be criticisms, improvements, likes-dislikes, I would appreciate it. If there are ways I can improve the image and portray the purpose of the site more effectively, that would be great too. Any additional feature ideas would be helpful.
http://www.askgary.org
By the way, the main purpose of the site is to have users send in any question they wish, and Gary will answer it for them.

Brilliant idea. I love the concept and have asked a few questions.
Are all questions and answers going to be posted somewhere on your site?

Thanks for the review and the questions. At some point in the near future, I will be coding a page which manages all of the questions and answers in a database. Not much time now with going to class, working, etc. I have a week off coming up and I want to get that done.
Also, what would you recommend as a disclaimer? Should I really be concentrating on getting specifics? After, Gary is not an expert in everything and some questions could create problems if people actually take everything 100% serious.

Nice concept but I agree with dan that the design needs a bit of improvement. For some reason, that guy in the top right corner is a bit offputting - something about him or his expression keeps drawing my eye away from the page
I'd also agree that a disclaimer is mandatory - you don't want to get into any legal situation because someone took your advice and it didn't work out.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I really appreciate it. This design was done in about 3 hours of work. I didn't have much time to put it up. Not making an excuse, just saying.
I plan to put a lot of time into another design in about a week. What elements do you think I should add? I want to play around with javascript, table-less, and AJAX. What do people recommend I do to spunk it up a bit (besides content)?

Much better, but should the site really be called Ask Derek?...

Well, I'm building the site continuously. And, since I'm doing all the testing, I'm posting a lot of stuff. My buddy Gary will start soon. And, he is the main guy to answer questions for people.

I think the blog looks great! Did you name your blog after the 1-800 ASKGARY commercials?

Haha freelancevote, no I didn't name it after that. But, after I started the website, I noticed that phone number existed. There are some cool features other than the blog too. Questions can be asked, once answered, automatically appear in the answer pages. I like how it turned out.
Can anybody think of any other features to implement?

Assuming you're not a doctor or a lawyer, you need to mention that. And then the standard 'no warranty, either express or implied, ...' legalese.
You might think about either letting people classify the question they're asking, or doing that yourself. It might be interesting to see a chart in your sidebar showing what people are asking about, at least rolled up by topic.

I reviewed your site.
1) Domain name looks good.
2) Header is fine.
My Suggetions is add more contents. but as a new site i can expect more in future.
Good Job.

one point when i looked the questions seemed.... well spammy and a bit crap.
Might be good idea to really pad it up, with good questions and give good answers, even if at first they arnt user submitted.

Thanks dansgalaxy. I agree with you on the questions. We've received a few good ones and a few bad. I think that's something I will work on until we get good questions rolling in.

After a few weeks, I have added questions and changed the site around a little bit. We are starting to get some content rolling in. A few of my articles are getting a lot of hits being the first listing in Google searches.
Does anyone have anymore ideas? My traffic is increasing each week. I've been submitting to directories. Thanks a bunch in advance.
