Untapped Niche for designers?

Any designers out there actually do designs for admin panels?

I'm always creating cool little scripts for myself and I think a few of them I could probably sell but I don't have the design chops to make a nice admin panel for them.

I imagine there's lots of coders out there with nice scripts that need a designer to do the admin panel.

Anybody do that?

I've dabbled with GUI design before for a couple of scripts

Well that would fall under interface design, which I have done in the past for a few CMSs. Depending on the scope of the project, I think I could make a nice interface... Would you need the designer to make a real database wireframe (meaning taht you don't have any real plans on how the interface should look like) or just design "on top" of your wireframe?

That depends in which software you code. I usually code in Dreamweaver. Dreamweaver has few of its own page templates consisting of tables which make a simple, sleek yet powerful admin. panels. Usually what I do is play around with the color theme till I believe its something different from the rest of the designs for admin panels I have created.

I don't believe in having full GUI based admin panels for little nifty scripts that you use on a daily basis. I have a couple of reasons for that, a). waste of bandwith. b). leaves you with less of space to cram in more information and finally why waste time designing one when you are the only person using it.

That's just my opinion. I would love to know what you people think.

He mentioned that some of them would be marketable if they had good looking interfaces.

I've actually been considering designing some admin panels in the past.

Yeah, I can do that. I find it a lot easier to design an admin panel than a front end design. You know all your basic requirements for the back end, all you have to do is make a simple & understandable and it'll be a perfect GUI if you do it right.

If anyone is looking for someone to design admin panels, contact me.

Smart guy, knows what he's doing. Look up his posts around the boards for proof. I'd hire him.
