I'm looking for feedback on my new forum www.goalposting.net

A couple things I'm aware of already are:
- I need to change the skin - I just used the default VBulletin one
- The "About Us" and "Smart Goals" pages could use a facelift

...but aside from that, I'm interested in knowing what do you think of:

- the basic idea of the site - posting goals - good idea, bad idea???
- the format of the forums (categories etc)
- anything else you can comment on

Thanks in advance,

Justin

I really like the idea of the site. The CEO of where I work is really big on setting goals not only for the company but personally as well. He actually spends a week away from his family, work, and outside influences to create personal goals for himself. Just quiet time where he can think.

I see no problems with using the default vB theme as long as it stays very user friendly. I think the different sections you have are great as well (I might want to link to at least one), however I think more can be created. One that comes to mind for me is different ways people go about creating goals for themselves no matter what the topic is. Everyone has different things they do (see above for the CEO of where I work), but some discussion of these methods might help someone else.

Great idea! unk:

Thanks a lot for the feedback. Just want to make sure I understand what you're suggesting - creating a different section IN THE FORUMS (not just a different page of information elsewhere on the site) which would be for for discussing the different ways to set goals etc? I think that's a good idea - no time right now but I'll do that in the next couple days. And don't hesitate to link to my site ! Thanks,

Justin

You got it... just another forum section.

like already stated I think the site is a pretty good idea only because it's something I haven't seen yet. Although, I don't think I would personally ever sign up for the website. The default is not too bad for now, but the header could use some work. I think it is a little too simple and off first glance gives me an impression of a weak, unprofessional website.

I am kind of interested in how the actual community of the website would work because in what way would there be a discussion like a forum? Is it meant to inspire people but even so would not leave room for discussion because as goals, you wouldn't want people to judge/criticize your goals/dreams. So in reality how long do you think the site will last before it becomes dead from lack of discussion?

You may not agree with what I said, I just thought i would include my two cents with that one to give you my opinion.

Thanks for the feedback.

Chopper: I've created an additional forum section for general goal discussion

Andrew: I'll change the header once I can afford to pay to get that done ...and I'm brainstorming on ways to stimulate more discussion... I've come up with a couple ideas so far which I may implement......

Any more feedback let me know!

Neat idea, this idea is gaining pace.

What could be a real hit is where people work together. For example 1 person needs a logo and another person needs a PHP script.

Nice idea but a skills exchange could also work.
