-Your page title and other header elements are almost invisible against the background color -- change the font color
-Use that gray bar running across the top of the page for more than just a search box
-DEFINITELY get a good color scheme, could make a huge difference
-Use better bullet formatting on the list of things that you get with a Premium membership, and capitalize the first word in each sentence.
-Get a better/more visible favicon
-Lose the adsense skyscraper and the animated gif, they're dead space
-Get a better/more visible image for your "Bookmark" link
-Maybe leave yourself room for a banner to sell at the top?
-Remove "My Newstin" in that red bar at the top if it's empty... more dead space
-Put a JS/AJAX/CSS/Whatever popup bubble when someone mouses over "20 sources" (or whatever number) that displays those sources.
-If you're going to bevel the map icons, bevel all of them -- not just some
-Left align the photos and float/wrap the text of the excerpt around them, at least for languages where people read left to right. Draws the eye and creates a natural starting point.
-Add something down with where you list the source and number of add'l sources that show how many clicks that story has received. Make sure to filter duplicate sessions/users/ips. Add the option to sort by popularity.
-Get better <title> and meta description tags, this is a FIRE that needs to be put out.. check this out from Google:
