Your design and content seem nice but it is tricky to navigate.

Hm. I've used a similar layout in other affiliate sites that were profitable. From my point of view there isn't a whole lot of navigation to do (click title link, read article, go to merchant).

What's throwing you off? As a user, what are you trying to accomplish?

I'd utilize more of the page width to make for less scrolling and then use that additional space to put thumbnail images next to each product listing that you recommend. If it increases CTR on adsense (though against TOS), no reason to think it wouldn't increase CTR on your affiliate links. I also might insert some photos in the body of the copy here and there, and wrap the text around it.

Rob,

Thanks for the advise! I'll look into posting more images in the articles. Right now my CTR is in the low 30s/high 20s (depending on day), however my sales ratio is at 0. I'm going to be spending a good chunk of time on why this is happening.

I don't think I'm going to risk putting images next to my adsense units. I already make a decent bit from adsense, so there's no reason to **** with it. I DO like the idea of putting the images next to my recommendations, though. I might be able to bump my CTR up past 50

Luckily, I don't have to worry about time spent on page - the average time spent on the page is > 2 minutes, lots of users staying for > 5 minutes.

This particular page is ranking higher in live.com right now than in Google. Not that it really matters, as I'm seeing similar traffic patterns for these niche keywords between the big three (the live users seem more ready to click links than the google users, though)

proline,

My content IS unique (I should know, I spent a ****load of time writing that). Of course, ever since I posted here, three other websites (that I know of) have been using my content, one of them at least had the courage to give me a link back.

/sigh

Yeah there's stiff competition out there for "how to build a computer" type sites. The various PC magazines, tom's hardware reviews, etc..

Which is why I'm focusing on gaming computers, and specifically on the more niche keywords "how to build" and "how to select" ("how to choose" was just too **** crowded), as well as the budget (although, I could do a much better on the bduget keywords)

A bit risky, I'll admit, but what the hell, I've always wanted to put together a computer site.

Thankfully, my other sites are fairing a bit better

The design looks good and simple. I'd recommend you to add more images into your articles, like pictures of the computers, network cards, etc. Don't just put text and ads. In terms of content, you did a good job.
