Hi all. Just joined the forum and would love to get some feedback on our new site.

Check it out at UnCliche.

We did as much as we could with limited resources but we're always on the lookout for more advice and ideas on how we can improve the site for the future. Also would love to hear some ideas on how we can attract people to participate on our site since it's so dependent on user submitted content.

The concept for a site is pretty simple. We run contests, lets the community vote on the content using our own method, and then we give the winners their money. We're hoping the money is incentive to get people to participate.

But feedback would be great. There's a much larger concept behind it and I honestly can't wait until we can start reaching that point where it's viable enough to move forward.

Thanks!

Hi uncliche, very nice site.

I like the name, haha very interesting. First thing I said to myself when opening the page was the background and the content box are quite clash-y. Even a small fix like making the top margin 0 or applying a gradient in the header to the background would fix this problem.

I would also like to see more navigation. I can get to "top 25 stories" from the little link in the text at the bottom of the page, but I don't see any other way. Same with the "how un cliche works" page.. There are only three navigation links at the top of the page, I believe you could use this space more effectively, and drive more people to the other pages. As long as you stick to the rule of 7.

I think it would look better if the logo was directly sitting on the black navigation bar, I think it would blend really nicely.

The graphics on the page are very nice, keep up the good work on that side of things. I also like the logo.

As far as traffic goes.. you can read all over the forum different methods, but one I haven't seen discussed (maybe i'm blind) is taking advantage of 43things.com. You can search up keywords like "writer" and find 2000 people who are wanting to become writers. You can then post on the travel page the link to your site and you could generate hits. I have also just started using the new facebook advertising tracker, so I'll keep you posted on how that goes.

There is little content on here right now, but it IS a beta release, so I assume you are aware of the problem and I look forward to reading more content. I wish you well with your website.

Cheers!

I think the layout was good, not complicated.

It looks to me that there is some slight alignment problems, but nothing huge.
